Paris Hilton vill fá leikstjórakredit

Paris Hilton er að fara í mál við sinn fyrrverandi til að fá leikstjórakredit fyrir myndbandið þeirra:

Ms Hilton offered directorial comments and physically controlled and directed the camera. Solomon’s failure to identify Ms Hilton as a co-author on the application for copyright registration renders the certificate of registration invalid and fraudulent.

Frábært, alveg frábært.

Skittles?

You’re Skittles!!! You have a very interesting personality, you’re so unique. You’re the kind of person who always thinks outside of the box. You’re also a very accepting individual, and believe in inner beauty.

Which kind of candy are you?

Hugsa út fyrir kassann? Mér finnst það alltaf svoltið tilgerðarlegt hugtak og myndi líklega aldrei nota það sjálfur. Mér finnst Skittles síðan ekkert gott.

Höfundarréttur og bókasöfn II

Í dag var ég einmitt að hugsa um „fair use“ í sambandi við höfundarrétt, þetta er ágæt yfirferð.

Exceptions form an important part of many national copyright regimes. Probably the best known copyright exception is the U.S. ‘Fair Use’ Doctrine. This provision was enacted as section 107 in the 1976 enactment of Title 17, the U.S. Copyright Act but it has its origins in over a century of case law. It provides that a ‘fair use’ is not an infringement of copyright. ‘Fairness’ is determined with reference to the following four principles:

  • the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for non-profit educational purposes;
  • the nature of the copyrighted work;
  • the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
  • the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

Höfundarréttur og bókasöfn I

IFLA maintains that overprotection of copyright could threaten democratic traditions and impact on social justice principles by unreasonably restricting access to information and knowledge. If copyright protection is too strong, competition and innovation is restricted and creativity is stifled.

IFLA stendur fyrir International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. Ég var að fatta að ég er í raun aðili að þessum samtökum, ég er í Upplýsingu sem er félag bókasafns- og upplýsingafræða og Upplýsing á aðild að IFLA. Ég er ákaflega stoltur, í alvörunni, ég get allavega skrifað undir það stefnumál IFLA í höfundarréttarmálum.
